We start our tour from the Russian border crossing station in tiny town of Salla, just north of polar circle in Eastern Finland. In eight days we ski cross Finland’s magic Lapland and reach Swedish border in town of Muonio. Next six days we enjoy the scenery of Swedish Lappland and cross border to Norway in Riksgransen. Last day we ski down to North-Atlantic coast, near city of Narvik.
In finish we call this tour: Pohjolan poikki hiihto (PPH).

In total 14 days we ski ca. 800km. Daily etappes are ca 50-70km and we ski mainly along snowmobile tracks, to where a skitrack is driven same day by local snowmobilist. Some days we pass skiresorts and can utilize their permanent skitracks (in perfect condition). Free technic skiing is possible in some parts of the route.

Our service van/coach moves your luggage to next accommodation and takes care of group’s daily breaks. You carry just your light daily backpack and enjoy 100% cross-country skiing in Lapland scenery.

For accommodation we use mainly hotel standard rooms (2-4 persons in a room), but also holiday apartments/cottages (4-6 persons) or similar might be used for couple of nights. 

TOUR PROGRAMME:

Sun 10.3. Gathering at town of Salla. Wellcome info at 12.00. Transfer by bus to start at 13.30 (driving time ca. 30min). Skiing ca. 23km (Kelloselkä – Saija).
Transfer by bus back to hotel in Salla.
Mon 11.3. Transfer by bus to start and skiing Saija  – Savukoski ca. 47km
Tue 12.3. Skiing Savukoski – Pelkosenniemi - Pyhätunturi ca. 70km
Wed 13.3. Skiing Pyhätunturi – Luosto – Sodankylä ca. 70km (first 30km permanent tracks)
Thu 14.3. Skiing Sodankylä – Tepsa ca. 55km. Bustransfer back to hotel in Sodankylä
Fri 15.3. Bustransfer from hotel to start and skiing Tepsa – Levi ca. 70km
Sat 16.3. Skiing Levi – Äkäslompolo/Ylläs ca. 50km (permanent tracks)
Sun 17.3. Skiing Ylläs/Äkäslompolo – Muonio ca. 60km (ca. 40km permanent tracks)
Mon 18.3.  Skiing Muonio - Kitkiöjarvi (SWE) ca 30km.
Tue 19.3. Skiing Kitkiöjarvi - Vittangi, ca. 80km.
Wed 20.3. Skiing Vittangi - Kiruna, ca 65km
Thu 21.3. Skiing Kiruna - Torneträsk, ca 60km, bustransfer to hotel.
Fri 22.3. Morning bustransfer to start and skiing Torneträsk - Abisko, ca 48km.
Sat 23.3. Skiing Abisko - Riksgränsen, ca 36km
Sun 24.3. Skiing Riksgransen - Narvik/Traedal, ca 30km. Bustransfer to hotel.
Mon 25.3. Travel back home

We reserve to make changes into programme, due to weather conditions etc.

Basic daily programme is as follows (ca):
7.30 Breakfast
8.30 Departure for slower skiers
9.30 Departure for faster skiers
12.00 Lunch along the track (cafe/restaurant/lunch pack)
16.00 Arrival to hotel
18.00 Dinner (some days own expense)
19.00 Info for next day

More detailed day programs shall be sent to participants approx. 1 month prior departure.
In most overnight stays there are a supermarket/grocery stores available.

We can take max 50 skiers into this tour.

CONNECTIONS TO START & FINISH

To Salla (start of the tour)
By air: There are daily flights to Rovaniemi and Kuusamo (www.finnair.fi)  from where you can reach Salla by bus (1-2 bus daily)
By train: There is daily night train (www.vr.fi) from Helsinki to Kemijärvi. From Kemijärvi there is direct bus connection to Salla after night train arrived. (Most of our finnish customers are supposed to use this connection)

Note! We can also arrange transfers from Rovaniemi airport to Salla or other solutions needed. Price depends on nr of passengers. Ask more! We shall find a solution.

From/to Muonio (start/finish for short tour):
By Train: There are daily nightrains to/from Kolari and Rovaniemi to Helsinki (www.vr.fi). Ground transportations from Muonio to both towns can be arranged.
By Air: Nearest Airport is Kittilä (1h drive) and Rovaniemi (3h drive). There are 2-3 daily buses from both airports to Muonio. 

From Narvik (end of tour):
By Air: Nearest airport is located at Evenes ca 55km west of town. There are 4-6 airport buses daily (ca 10€/ow, 55min driving time).
By Train: There are night trains to Stockholm (Sweden), travel time ca 18hrs. 
We can arrange transfers to Rovaniemi if needed.

Full tour: 2890€
Finland part only: 1595€
Sweden & Norway part only: 1690€

Additional charges:
- Ground transfers to start/finish locations (can be arranged at your own or we can arrange group transfers)

- overnight at Muonio 17.3. if needed (for SWE+NOR tour only)
- Sgl room: 60-90€/night, very limited availability
- Waxing service during the tour (incl. waxes). Ask more.

Booking fee: 300€/person.
Middle payment in November: 400€ (half tour) & 800€ (full tour)
Final invoice will be due early January. 

Cancellaltion terms:
Cancellations made latest 30.11. organisers hold 100€/200€ (half tour/ full tour) and refund rest payments done.
Cancellations made latest 31.12 organisers hold 200€/400€ (half tour/ full tour) and refund rest payments done.

In case trip must be cancelled by organisers due to reasons outside of organisers control (such as Covid19), office fee of €75/person shall be hold and rest payments made are returned to customer.

Insurance:
Organisers have no insurance coverage for participants, but each one must take care of own insurance coverage by him/herself.
We recommend to have a good insurance coverage, including cancellation protection.

Weather:
Winters varies a lot from year to year. During skiweeks you can expect to have all kind of temperatures from -30c to +5c during our tour.
Skitrack conditions vary also depending on weather, not only the sking day, but also weather conditions days before (snowfall, ice conditions, etc).

History:
We have organised Cross Finland ski tour (Salla - Muonio) first time in March 2021. Similar tour has then been organised yearly 2022 and 2023.
Now we are proud to continue this unique tour also cross Sweden and Norway in 2024.
