Cross Nordics - Ski Tour 2023

Exotic skitour cross Finland's Lappland from Russian border to Swedish border 19.-26.3.2023

We start our tour from the Russian border crossing station in tiny town of Salla, just north of polar circle in Eastern Finland. In eight days we cross Finland’s magic Lapland and reach Swedish border in town of Muonio. 
In total 8 days we ski ca. 450km. Daily etappes are ca 50-70km and we ski mainly along snowmobile tracks, to where a skitrack is driven same day by local snowmobilist. Some days we pass skicenters and can utilize their permanent skitracks (in perfect condition). Free technic skiing is possible in some parts of the route.

Our service van moves your luggage to next accommodation and takes care of group’s daily breaks. You carry just your light daily backpack and enjoy 100% cross-country skiing in Lapland scenery.

For accommodation we use mainly hotel standard rooms, but also holiday cottages are used for couple of nights. 

TOUR PROGRAMME:

Sun 19.3. Gathering at town of Salla. Wellcome info at 12.00. Transfer by bus to start at 13.00 (driving time ca. 30min). Skiing ca. 23km (Kelloselkä – Saija).
Transfer by bus back to hotel in Salla.
Mon 20.3. Transfer by bus to start and skiing Saija  – Savukoski ca. 47km
Tue 21.3. Skiing Savukoski – Pelkosenniemi - Pyhätunturi ca. 70km
Wed 22.3. Skiing Pyhätunturi – Luosto – Sodankylä ca. 70km (first 30km permanent tracks)
Thu 23.3. Skiing Sodankylä – Tepsa ca. 55km
Fri 24.3. Skiing Tepsa – Levi ca. 70km
Sat 25.3. Skiing Levi – Äkäslompolo/Ylläs ca. 50km (permanent tracks)
Sun 26.3. Skiing Ylläs/Äkäslompolo – Muonio ca. 60km (ca. 40km permanent tracks)
Mon 27.3.  Home trip, or extra days in Lappland.

We reserve to make changes into programme, due to weather conditions etc.

We plan to continue our tour to Sweden (Kiruna) and Norway (Narvik). However this cannot be confirmed yet. We inform if/when we get "all pieces" in place.

Basic daily programme is as follows (ca):
7.30 Breakfast
8.30 Departure for slower skiers
9.30 Departure for faster skiers
12.00 Lunch along the track (cafe/restaurant/lunch pack)
16.00 Arrival to hotel
18.00 Dinner (some days own expense)
19.00 Info for next day

We can take max 40 skiers into this tour.

CONNECTIONS TO START & FINISH

To Salla (start of the tour)
By air: There are daily flights to Rovaniemi and Kuusamo (www.finnair.fi)  from where you can reach Salla by bus (1-2 buss daily)
By train: There is daily night train (www.vr.fi) from Helsinki to Kemijärvi. From Kemijärvi there is direct bus connection to Salla after night train arrived. (Most of our finnish customers are supposed to use this connection)

Note! We can also arrange transfers from Rovaniemi airport to Salla or other solutions needed. Price depends on nr of passengers. Ask more! We shall find a solution.

From/to Muonio:
There are daily nightrains from Kolari and Rovaniemi to Helsinki (www.vr.fi). Ground transportations from Muonio to both towns can be arranged.
Nearest Airport is Rovaniemi and there are 2-3 buses per day to Muonio (3-4hrs drive).

PRICE: 1495€/person

Price includes:
- 8 nights accommodation and 5x dinner

- Skiing guide (english spoken)

- Help and tip for skiwaxing (waxing bench available)

Additional charge:
- Group transfer from Kemijärvi or Rovaniemi to Salla (if needed)
– Group transfer from Muonio to Kolari/Rovaniemi (if needed)
- Sgl room: 40-90€/night, limited availability
- Waxing service during the tour (incl. waxes). Ask more.

Booking fee 250€/person.
Final invoice ca. 2 months prior departure. 

Cancellaltion terms:
Cancellation made latest 15.12., fee 55€/pax jand rest will be returned.
from 16.12. to 15.1. fee 250€/person.
from 16.1. onwards we return payments as much as we can get refund ouselves from service providers (decreased by 250€).
In case trip must be cancelled by organisers (Covid19 etc) we hold €25/person and return rest to customer.

Insurance:
Organisers have no insurance coverage for participants, but each one must take care of own insurance coverage by him/herself.
We recommend to have a good insurance coverage.
